HaveĀ a Heart Benefit

The 2010 Have a Heart Benefit was held on June 25th

Understanding the problem...

Many people mistakenly believe that a patient is "cured" by a transplant.  In reality, they are trading their underlying disease for another chronic disease.  After transplantation, patients require frequent doctor visits, invasive biopsies, a lifetime of expensive drugs to suppress their immune system, and the high risk of rejection or other complications requiring hospitalization.

The average cost per year for these follow up procedures and medications can range from $100,000 to over $130,000 for the rest of their life. To make matters worse, many are unable to work due to their medical disability.
